Internationally-Recognized Jazz Saxophonist Neil Wetzel Releases First Solo CD Entitled "Misunderestimated"
Early reviews are positive, Wetzel excited about the recording

Wyndmoor, PA, March 1, 2010 - Hot Apple Spider Productions announces a new recording showcasing the talents of award-winning jazz alto saxophonist Neil Wetzel in his debut outing as a solo artist.  Playing all original compositions, Neil covers a variety of styles from straight-ahead swing (Day Gig) to ballad with strings (First Dance) to contemporary smooth (An Inconsequential Life) to up-tempo bebop (Misunderestimated) and even to salsa (Rosalita d'el Fuego).  The title "Misunderestimated" (an oft-quoted Bush-ism) is a tongue-in-cheek statement that Wetzel is not often underestimated.

Now a professor at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, Neil hails from the small town of Macungie, PA, and is well known in the Philadelphia/Lehigh Valley areas as a jazz artist, a pit (show) musician, and also as a classical saxophonist.  He was recently featured on the CD "Frydlant Nights" with the Fras-Wilkins International Quintet, a group featuring a mix of musicians from the US and the Czech Republic, and also received favorable reviews for his work on Eric Mintel's CDs "Live", "Hopscotch", "Dynamo", and "Four on the Floor."  Wetzel also performed on the Grammy Award-winning release "Patti Page: Live at Carnegie Hall".

"This project has been a long time coming," says Neil, "and I'm extremely happy to be able to finally share this music with the public.  I was very excited to record with these guys and the end result is more than gratifying."

Featured on this album in addition to Wetzel is the impressive playing of Tom Lawton on keys, Tony Marino on bass, and Gary Rissmiller on drums, along with a host of other gifted musicians.  The CD is available for sale at www.NeilWetzel.com and elsewhere.
